Mary and Martha pt 10

One Thing is Needful

God spoke to me last night. This is what He said:

"The biggest problems my ladies have right now are their attitudes. They love me, they pray, they read my Word, but they forget that it is about taking on my character that I may be glorified in everything they do and say. Encourage them to let others see me through them in what they say, how they act and in where they go. I love them and I am molding and shaping each one into my vessel of honor."

Luk 10:40 But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.
Luk 10:41 And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:

Luk 10:42 But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

As we wrap up our series today we are going to have an open discussion on what is the, "One", thing that is needful in each of our lives.
  • Do you consider yourself a Mary or a Martha?
  • Have you learned to be a, "Mary in a Martha world"?
  • How do you balance each day with the natural and the Spiritual?
  • What are your priorities and are they balanced?
  • As you spend more time at Jesus feet learning of Him, do you notice that you are taking on His character?
  • What changes in yourself have you noticed?

Jesus cares how we feel and what we think. He cared about Martha, that is why he addressed her attitude rather then her problem. As we take on His character we will find that are problems aren’t as big as we thought they were!

Php 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Isa 26:3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

Follow up:

  • What has impacted you the most in this series?
  • The importance of balancing the natural and the spiritual. Don’t wait when God calls. Give God the best of your time, not the leftovers.
  • Take on new habits. (It usually takes 30 days to develop a new habit.)
  • Watching my attitude at work and everywhere else.
  • The importance of having priorities in order. Putting Jesus first. Being flexible.
  • The need to be more organized. The need to teach my children and to be consistent with them. (Make a list of what the kids need to do.)
  • Learning when to be a Mary and when to be a Martha.
