Mary and Martha Pt 2
Luke 10:38-42
John 11
In conjunction with our North Cities, W.O.W. Ladies Ministries, we will be studying the lives of Mary and Martha in this coming year. Balance is our key word as we seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness.
A closer, intimate, relationship with Jesus Christ and showing our faith by our works are our goals for 2008.
Open discussion:
What characteristics do you think of when you consider the lives of the two sisters, Mary and Martha? Take a few minutes and write them down…….
Characteristics gathered:
Mary- relaxed, talkative, entertaining, compassionate, tender, thankful, loving, affectionate, frustrated, trusting
Martha- worried, caught up, careful, troubled, serious, oldest?, taking charge, responsible, hospitable, realistic, balanced, risk taker, wise
Let’s dig deeper, in this coming year, then we ever have before. God’s Word is our road map and standard that we live by. It is full of the wisdom, understanding and knowledge that we need, to live this life more abundantly!
Luke 10:38 Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.- Luke 10:39 And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word.
- Luke 10:40 But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.
Luke 10:41 And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: - Luke 10:42 But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.
